A retired Superintendent (SP) of the Boossa Prison, Siridath Dhammika, was shot dead yesterday (13) evening by unidentified gunmen at Thalagaha Ihalagoda in Akmeemana, according to the Police.

The deceased had been shot dead while he was in the verandah of his house. Two gunmen had arrived on a motorcycle and had fled after shooting at him. The 61-year-old retiree had died after being admitted to the Galle National Hospital in Karapitiya. 

Four investigation teams including the Akmeemana Police Station have been deployed to arrest the duo.
