Sri Lankan sprinter Aruna Darshana has qualified to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) sources revealed yesterday (6).

Accordingly, he will represent Sri Lanka in the Men’s 400m event.

Darshana joins the Sri Lankan athletics team for the Paris Olympics with Tharushi Karunaratne and Dilhani Lekamge.

He recently showcased exceptional speed and skill on the track, achieving an impressive second-place finish in the 400 m event at an international athletics tournament in the Bahamas, clocking a personal best time of 45.90 seconds.

He also won the Gold medal in the 400 m event at China’s 2nd Belt and Road Invitational Athletics Championship.

Darshana was tipped by many in the circles to follow in the footsteps of veteran athlete Sugath Thilakaratne, having previously won the men’s 400 m event during the 2018 National Athletics Championships by clocking 46.16.
