On 26 March 2026, Colombo Mayor Vraie Cally Balthazaar delivered an inspiring speech on Women in Leadership to a distinguished audience of Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and members of the Sri Lankan community at a luncheon hosted by the Sri Lankan High Commission in Canberra.

Her remarks were part of her official visit to Australia, which took place from 21 to 29 March 2026, under the auspices of the Special Visits Program of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. 

During her visit, the Mayor engaged in a series of meaningful interactions with parliamentarians, mayors, senior officials, think tanks, and cultural institutions across Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney.
