The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), in partnership with the Ministry of Public Administration, has launched a nationwide program to combat corruption in local Government.
The inaugural workshop, held yesterday (28), brought together newly appointed local Government members.
The Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya highlighted that corruption costs the global economy over $3.5 trillion annually, and that even seemingly minor acts of corruption can significantly undermine public trust and the effectiveness of governance.
She called on the new officials to act with integrity and transparency to rebuild public trust and ensure that public service is an honor, not an opportunity for personal gain.
