Minister of Energy Anura Karunathilaka has stated that there are no plans to request an increase in electricity tariffs for the upcoming quarter.
Speaking in Parliament today (11), the Minister stated that higher-than-expected rainfall had helped authorities manage electricity generation costs to some extent.
He noted that an electricity tariff increase is therefore not necessary for the upcoming quarter and that no request will be submitted.
The Minister also stated that necessary measures have been taken to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply during the first three months of next year.
