A massive 8.7-magnitude earthquake near Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula has triggered tsunami warnings across the Pacific.
Waves have already reached parts of Japan and Russia.
The U.S. tsunami warning system lists over 40 nations and islands at risk. Russia, Ecuador, and the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands could face waves over 3 meters.
Japan, Hawaii, Chile, and others may see waves between 1 to 3 meters, while more distant areas like Australia, the Philippines, and Mexico are expected to experience smaller surges.
Coastal communities are urged to stay alert and follow local advisories.
