Showers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern, Uva and Central provinces today (20), the Department of Meteorology said.

Fairly heavy rainfall of about 75 mm is likely at some places in the Eastern Province and in the Matale, Badulla, Mullaitivu and Polonnaruwa districts.

Several spells of showers may also occur in the Hambantota district.

Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places elsewhere after 1.00 p.m., with fairly heavy rainfall above 50 mm likely in the Rathnapura, Galle, Matara and Nuwara Eliya districts.
