Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya stated the malwana property will be transferred to the University Grants Commission for higher education development.

She made the announcement during a meeting with representatives of the inter-university students’ federation today(18).

A feasibility study will be conducted before the property is allocated for suitable educational purposes.

The prime minister noted that budget allocations for university student accommodation and implementation in the higher education sector have increased in 2025.
