The Pensions Department, issuing a statement, claimed that the cyber attack which hit the information technology systems of the department in the first week of April 2025 was a ransomware attack. 

The statement further noted that action has been taken to restore the systems without any issue to the department's online information systems, adding also that the attack did not cause any harm or loss to the departmental system data.
