An office assistant attached to the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court (MC) has been arrested by investigating officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs 500 to provide a copy of a Court judgement. The arrest was made following an investigation launched based on information received by the Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau. The suspect had allegedly requested the bribe on 30 June to provide a copy of the judgement in a case involving a financial dispute that had been settled at the Court. Acting on the information received, CIABOC officers arrested the suspect at around 3.35 p.m. on Wednesday (16) within the premises of the Court. The suspect was due to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
