Sri Lanka’s overall inflation rate, measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI), rose to 0.6% year-on-year in May 2025, marking a turnaround from the -0.8% deflation recorded in April.
Food inflation surged to 5.9% in May from 2.9% the previous month, driven by rising prices in essential items.
Non-food inflation, though still negative, slightly improved to -3.4% from -3.7% in April, reflecting a gradual recovery in the broader economy.
