The Department of Meteorology has issued a ‘Red’ warning for strong winds and dangerous sea conditions from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota.

Winds may reach speeds of 60–70 kmph, with wave heights rising to 3 meters, increasing the risk of coastal surges in these areas.

Naval and fishing communities are strongly advised to avoid these sea areas over the next 24 hours.

Those operating between Puttalam and Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankesanthurai are also urged to exercise caution and follow updates from the Met. Department.
