The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has launched a special investigation into the unrest at Mahara Prison yesterday(01).

A three-member HRCSL team visited the prison today (2) and began inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

One inmate died and six others were injured, while prison property was damaged during the unrest.
