- Hospitalised at Colombo National Hospital
Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne, a suspect in a drug trafficking case who is also known as ‘Harak Kata,’ is currently in custody and hospitalised at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka in Colombo, receiving treatment for chikungunya – a viral disease spreading across the country – according to reliable sources within the Department of Police.
He remains under Police protection while undergoing medical care.
No formal statement has been released regarding his condition yet.
Separately, the Colombo High Court recently dismissed a preliminary objection filed by the defence in a case involving Wickramaratne and two other accused.
The defendants face charges of conspiring to escape custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The court ruled that the indictments were procedurally sound and affirmed the High Court’s jurisdiction over the case.
The trial is scheduled to commence on 5 August.
