Buddhist monks and their supporters have begun removing temporary huts erected near Galle Road, following a court order restricting their protest outside the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

The Fort Magistrate’s Court issued the order after police sought to prevent demonstrations in the high-security zone.

The protesters, participating in the “Justice for the Robe – National Pledge Offering and Freedom March”, had occupied the roadside since 15 October, demanding the release of Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero.
