Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa noted that he will comply with the summons issued by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption and appear before the Commission on 12 May.

Rajapaksa made the remarks while attending the funeral of former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena.

The summons relates to the investigation into the Airbus aircraft deal involving allegations that Chandrasena and his wife accepted a USD 2 million bribe linked to aircraft purchases made in 2013.

During court proceedings, Bribery Commission officials alleged that part of the funds had been handed over to former minister Piyankara Jayaratne and former President Rajapaksa.
