Sri Lanka has recorded 36,168 dengue cases as of June 5, with infections increasing by 50–55% compared to the same period in 2025, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.
The Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara stated that around 50% of cases have been reported from the Western Province.
Health officials noted that persistent rainfall and waste accumulation following Cyclone Ditwah have contributed to the rise in mosquito breeding sites and dengue transmission.
