The National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI) is taking steps to identify three-wheeler and heavy vehicle drivers operating under the influence of drugs using mobile laboratories.  

Chairman Professor U. C. P. Perera stated that the programme is expected to be rolled out in the coming months. 

Recently, 57 passenger bus drivers in Colombo were tested using the mobile labs, with 10 found to be under the influence of various drugs.
