Visiting Indian Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan today (19) handed over 145 houses, marking the completion of the third phase of the Indian housing project in Sri Lanka.
The project, implemented by the Government of India, aims to construct 60,000 houses in plantation areas, with 46,000 completed under the first two phases.
The third phase delivered 4,000 houses across Uva, Central and Southern provinces, benefiting 3,855 families.
Meanwhile, a fourth phase to build 10,000 houses has already been launched, in line with a commitment by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
