The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has decided not to pass additional costs arising from coal-related issues onto electricity consumers during tariff revisions.

The Commission noted that only reasonable costs related to electricity generation, transmission and distribution will be considered in tariff proposals.

It stated that similar additional or unjustified costs were not approved in previous tariff revisions.

The Commission unanimously decided that such costs will not be included in future electricity tariff adjustments.
