The family of late businessman Lalith Kotelawala has sought an order from the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court to conduct a post-mortem examination into his death, citing suspicious circumstances.
The family alleges that Kotelawala was held hostage by a certain group of people for the last five years without any access to family members.
They also alleged that this group forged documents to transfer Kotelawala's properties to themselves.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate has ordered the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer to conduct a post-mortem examination into Kotelawala's death. The body will be released to the family members after the post-mortem.
The Bambalapitiya Police are investigating the matter.
