The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning to fishermen and maritime communities operating in the central Bay of Bengal northeast of Sri Lanka. 

A low-pressure system over the area is expected to move eastward and weaken over the next 24 hours. 

Authorities warn that this system could cause heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds reaching 50-60 kmph, making sea conditions rough. 

Maritime communities are urged to remain vigilant and monitor weather updates to ensure safety.
