The Election Commission (EC) has announced that all public employees involved in Local Government (LG) Election duties on 6 May will receive duty leave on Wednesday, 7 May.

This applies to those engaged in vote counting, result tabulation, and support services.

Eligible employees must provide an attendance certificate to claim the leave.

Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake said the move recognizes the contributions of officials to a smooth election process.
