A 34-year-old tourist guide from Ahungalla was killed in an elephant attack at Kande Viharaya Temple in Aluthgama on 26 October.

The incident occurred around noon when he approached the elephant to offer it a tray of fruit while accompanying a group of foreign tourists.

He was taken to Balapitiya Base Hospital but died by the time he was admitted. His body remains at the hospital.
