The Irrigation Department has opened two spill gates of the Daduru Oya Reservoir by one foot each due to heavy rainfall in the river basin and catchment areas.

Director of Irrigation (Water Management) Engineer H.M.P.S.D. Herath stated that water is being released into the Daduru Oya at a rate of 1,400 cubic feet per second.

Residents living downstream and along the riverbanks, as well as motorists travelling through the area, have been urged to remain vigilant and monitor water levels.
