Doctors at the Badulla Teaching Hospital launched a strike today(17) after a colleague was assaulted by a three-wheeler driver, hospital sources reported. 

The injured doctor has been admitted for treatment. 

The incident reportedly occurred after the driver parked behind the doctor’s vehicle and allegedly assaulted the doctor when asked to move it. 

Medical staff began the strike in protest following the attack. The strike action is expected to continue until 4.00 p.m. today.
