Sri Lanka has reiterated its call for de-escalation and the peaceful settlement of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.

Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York.

The two ministers discussed current regional and international developments, while Herath encouraged continued negotiations to restore regional stability and reduce tensions.
