The Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) has purchased 5,390 metric tonnes of paddy under its 2026 Yala season procurement programme since it began on 13 July.

PMB stated the highest volume, 3,148 metric tonnes, was purchased from the Ampara District.

The Board also noted plans to open 148 paddy warehouses across the island as harvesting progresses.
