Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya inaugurated the EPIGS’25 – Global South Integrity Summit at Cinnamon Life Hotel, Colombo, today (11), emphasising the urgent need to address electoral integrity, information reliability, and platform accountability in a rapidly digitizing world.

The international conference, organized by Colombo-based think tank Factum in collaboration with Democracy Reporting International and supported by the European Union, brings together experts and policymakers from more than 12 countries in the Global South. The summit aims to explore the intersection of technology, democracy, and governance.

The Prime Minister praised Factum for its role in positioning the Global South as a leader in shaping the future of democratic processes. She highlighted the summit’s relevance in confronting misinformation, safeguarding electoral systems, and enhancing digital accountability.

Delegates include civil society members, diplomats, media professionals, academics, and tech policy experts committed to strengthening democratic resilience in the digital age.
