The World Bank Group has announced up to US$120 million in emergency support for Sri Lanka to aid recovery and restoration following Cyclone Ditwah, the bank announced on 15 December.
The funds, repurposed from ongoing projects, will help restore essential services and infrastructure, including health care, water, education, agriculture and connectivity in the hardest-hit areas.
The International Finance Corporation will support private sector recovery through advisory services and strategic investments, while a Global Rapid Post-Disaster Damage Estimation assessment is underway to guide recovery efforts and inform early decision-making.
