A luxury car travelling on the Southern Expressway veered off the road and crashed into the central safety fence near the 32.4 kilometre post in Dodangoda this morning (7).

Police stated that the vehicle was travelling from Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake towards Matara when it collided with barricades placed for road maintenance work.

A woman travelling in the vehicle sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The collision caused damage to the expressway’s central safety fence, road maintenance barricades and the vehicle.

Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
