The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by popular South Indian actor Vijay has reportedly assured it will push for a solution for Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Indian Tamil media had reported that the TVK had passed a resolution in this regard. The party had also asserted that the Indian Central Government must obtain the participation of the Tamil Nadu Government when taking decisions on Sri Lanka.

Vijay had entered politics in February this year, announcing his decision to contest the 2026 Assembly Polls, and launched his party’s flag and song at the TVK Headquarters in Panaiyur near Chennai on 22 August.

In less than three weeks, he had posted on social media that the Election Commission of India (ECI) had recognised the TVK as a registered political party.

Vijay is India’s second highest celebrity taxpayer, according to the Fortune India magazine.
