Sri Lanka's first Telecommunications Infrastructure Services License was officially awarded to EDOTCO Services Lanka (Private) Limited on 2 September. 

The license, issued by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), marks a new regulatory framework that recognizes independent companies in the sector.

According to the Ministry of Digital Economy, this move is expected to enable greater infrastructure sharing and accelerate connectivity, especially in rural areas. 

The government highlighted that the new framework will help expand coverage and enhance efficiency across the country.
