Department of Census and Statistics stated Sri Lanka’s overall inflation rate, measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI), rose slightly to -2.0% in April 2025, up from -2.6% in March.
The CCPI for April stood at 191.2, marking a minor decline of 0.4 index points from March’s figure of 191.6.
Year-on-year inflation in the Food Group increased to 1.3% in April from 0.6% the previous month, while the Non-Food Group saw a smaller deflation at -3.6%, compared to -4.1% in March.
The data reflects a slow easing of deflationary pressures in the economy.
