Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe issued a statement today condemning the escalating violence in Nepal, including the recent killings, attacks on ministers, and the burning of the Parliament and court buildings. 

He expressed his condolences for the murder of the former Prime Minister's wife and criticized the police for using live ammunition.

Wickremesinghe attributed the crisis to long-standing problems that the Nepali Government failed to address, leading to frustration among the youth.

He highlighted the dangerous role of social media companies like Google, Facebook, and YouTube in overthrowing Governments. 

He also stated that burning down democratic institutions like Parliament and courts is a grave disrespect to Nepal's democracy.

He concluded by urging Nepal's current Government to adopt the Saptha Aparihani Dharma, or the Seven Conditions of Welfare, a set of principles from Buddhist teachings on governance, unity, and prosperity.
