Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya stated that Sri Lanka’s new National Youth Policy is expected to be finalised and implemented by the first quarter of 2027.

She noted that the policy is being formulated with stakeholder participation to address challenges faced by young people amid changes in technology, the economy and the employment market.

The Prime Minister also stated that youth development should include academic, practical, technical and vocational skills aligned with global demand.

She made the remarks while addressing the National Research Symposium on Youth Development 2026 in Ratmalana today (16).
