Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Eastern and Uva provinces and Mullaitivu District after 2.00 p.m. today (2), according to the Department of Meteorology.

Several spells of showers are also expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Fairly strong winds of 30–40 kmph may occur over the western slopes of the Central Hills, North-Central and North-Western provinces, and Hambantota and Matale districts.

The public has been urged to take precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
