The Department of Meteorology has issued a heavy rain advisory for Eastern and Uva provinces, and the districts of Polonnaruwa, Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, and Hambantota.

The alert, issued at 12:30 p.m. today(17), is valid until 8:30 a.m. Wednesday(18).

Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm, along with strong winds and lightning, is expected in some areas.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage.
