Sri Lanka is planning measures to increase average tourist spending by 2030 as part of efforts to strengthen the tourism sector.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe said the average tourist currently spends around US$148 during a visit, compared to US$171 recorded in 2018 and 2019.
He said the government is studying changes in tourist behaviour and spending patterns, while focusing on improving the overall visitor experience to achieve the target.
