An accomplice of organised criminal ‘Backhoe Saman’, who was arrested on Saturday (13) along with a T-81 assault rifle, has been remanded, Ada Derana reporter said. He has been remanded until 24 September.

The individual was arrested by the North Western Crimes Division in Embilipitiya on charges of transporting and being in possession of a firearm belonging to ‘Backhoe Saman’. The Police have identified the suspect as a resident of the Gangeyaya area in Embilipitiya.

During the arrest, the Police recovered a T81-type firearm, 97 bullets, two magazines and a military uniform from his possession.
