The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand, and the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Wijayanthi Edirisinghe and the delegation from the Defence Services Command and Staff College of Sri Lanka visited the National Defence Studies Institute (NDSI) of Thailand on 1 August on the sidelines of a study tour aimed at enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and strategic dialogue between Sri Lanka and Thailand. 

A bilateral discussion was held between Edirisinghe and the NDSI Commanding General Pongtep Gaewchaiyo with the participation of the Head of the Sri Lankan Defence delegation, Captain S.K. Vidanage, focusing on strengthening defence cooperation, promoting mutual understanding, and exploring opportunities for enhanced military exchange programmes between the two countries. Gaewchaiyo highlighted the significance of regional cooperation and confidence-building measures in ensuring long-term stability and security.
