The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigation into alleged death threats from underworld figures against suspended IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon. 

Court approval has been granted to record statements from two inmates at Boossa Prison.

Tennakoon requested police protection, citing threats from criminal leader “Kanjipani Imran.” 

His security was earlier withdrawn following his suspension.
