The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) announced a Rs. 10,000 increase in the monthly salary of preschool teachers, raising it from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000, effective from February.  

Additionally, the breakfast allowance for children attending registered Dhamma schools of all religions within Colombo has been increased from Rs. 60 to Rs. 100.  

Colombo Municipal Commissioner Palitha Nanayakkara stated these improvements aim to support educators and enhance aid to students in the city.
