Sri Lanka has received a further 60MW shipment under its Battery Energy Storage System project, bringing the total delivered capacity to 80MW out of the planned 160MW.
Deputy Power Minister Arkam Ilyas stated that the systems will be installed at 16 substations across the country to support renewable energy integration and improve grid stability.
He noted that the project will help store excess renewable energy, reduce reliance on diesel-powered generation, and support Sri Lanka’s goal of generating 70% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
