The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has gained control of the Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha in the Kegalle District, marking a key win in the 2025 Local Government (LG) Elections.

SJB candidate Puthula Udagama was elected Chairman following a council vote, having secured a clear majority.
