The Department of Meteorology has warned of increased rainfall across Sri Lanka after 21 October due to an atmospheric disturbance developing over the Bay of Bengal. 

Director General Athula Karunanayake said the system is likely to become a low-pressure area.

The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) extended landslide warnings for six districts, including Badulla and Kandy.

The Department of Irrigation confirmed that spill gates of almost all major reservoirs have been opened due to rising water levels. 

The Disaster Management Centre reported one death from the prevailing weather.
