The Department of Meteorology reports that a low-pressure area remains over Sri Lanka, bringing cloudy skies today(17).

Showers or thundershowers are forecast for Northern, North-central, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as Hambantota district. 

Rainfall exceeding one hundred millimetres (100 mm) is likely in some Northern and Eastern areas. 

Other regions will see showers after one p.m., with potential falls above seventy-five millimetres (75 mm).

Misty conditions are expected in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces during the morning. 

The public is advised to take precautions against localised strong winds and lightning.
