The National Deepavali Festival was celebrated today(19) at the Sri Manikka Pillayar Kovil in Hatton, ahead of tomorrow’s Deepavali festival.

Dr Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, presided over the ceremony. 

The event included a special Ashirvada Pooja and a cultural procession. 

A commemorative postage stamp was issued to mark the occasion.

Separately, the Police Headquarters held a Deepavali celebration for Hindu officers yesterday(18) in Bambalapitiya.
