The Sri Lankan Government has approved a project to digitise the National Intellectual Property Office (NIPO) to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility.
Accordingly, the initiative will introduce online registration, electronic filing, digital record-keeping, and online communication platforms to streamline intellectual property services.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has agreed to provide a technical and service grant worth Rs. 70.2 million for the project’s implementation.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal by the Minister of Trade to proceed with the project and sign a cooperation agreement with WIPO to secure the grant.
