A retired Navy medical assistant has been arrested by the Bribery Commission (CIABOC) for allegedly soliciting a bribe to secure a Grade 1 school admission in Colombo.

CIABOC stated that the suspect demanded Rs. 300,000 from a child’s parents and had already accepted Rs. 100,000. 

He was arrested while attempting to collect the remaining Rs. 200,000.

The arrest followed a complaint made by a Wellawatte resident. 

The suspect is due to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
